Requiem
by Lady Viridis Solari
The wolves have fallen silent now
No more their wild winter song
Our heroes have all departed
Our brave and wise and strong
The tankards are all empty
No more our bards at play
The banner has been taken down
And folded away
This is not the end
The sun does not set on us today
For what is loved lives ever on
And will not know the end of day
Our songs have fallen silent now
No more our heroes’ tales are told
Our lives and loves are long unsung
Our campfires dark and cold
Our warfields all lie empty
Forgot by friend and foe
One day will they look back and say
“O, where did they go?”
The drums have fallen silent now
No more our fighters march to war
The cruelest blow came from within
What were we fighting for?
Our people are all scattered
To rest on foreign shores
But one day we will gather again
And rise once more
This is not the end
The sun does not set on us today
For what is loved lives ever on
And will not know the end of day
