Lord Of Carnarvan's Jig
Notes by MistressFabienne l'Accusee
Many of Playford's tunes (and presumably, the dances) are not just English, i.e. Irish Trot, and the Caernarfon (Welsh spelling) Jig. This is a nice tune with an interesting dance. It is still done exactly the same way as a popular country dance in Wales today. Caernarfon is on the northern coast of Wales and was a stronghold for the north for hundreds of years. Its importance has not dimmed over time; Charles was made Prince of Wales by Queen Elizabeth II at Caernarfon Castle in 1969.
